The article emphasizes that while it can be challenging, PBL can be used with very large classes. The author emphasizes that in this type of class setting, a project has to be much more organized and guided than one in a small class setting, to the point of using question sheets to guide the inquiry rather than letting the groups freely explore the topic and discover things on their own. She also emhasizes a variety of grades, including a separate participation grade and some sort of individual activity to give each student the opportunity to use what they learned and punishes those that chose not to participate. The points made over and over are about organization and structure, so that the students have an opportunity to explore the topic but not stray from the main quest and waste time.
