Precaution is better than cure. ~Edward Coke

Part of any good technology (note I didn't say computer) curriculum is teaching kids about technology safety. Today's Internet technology ranges from cell phones, mp3 players, computers, tablets to gaming systems such as PS3 and Xbox 360. Kids are exposed to many potential hazards online, but as children get older censoring the Internet for them is not a viable solution in today's society.  Strong passwords, chat safety, private information safety, appropriate content and piracy are just a few topics kids today need to have included in their technology education classes.

There are a wide variety of resources online, but one of the most complete and engaging is NetSmartz.org. This site offers a wide variety of short videos, songs, and games, in addition to teacher and parent resources. While keeping our kids safe is fundamental part of what parents do today, educating them to make safe choices for themselves now and in the future is just as important, and this site offers tools for all ages.
