EdTec 655 Final Project

Travel Indiana!

Proposal
o My motivation for this project is to have students become familiar with several different styles of web sites. I want them to be able to find information in a variety of places, and I want that information to have real-world meaning for the students. This project will do that by giving the students trip possibilities they could take with their own families.

o The audience for this project is fourth grade. In the fourth grade, students study Indiana history, but rarely do they look at modern Indiana. This will allow to them to mix some of the historical attractions with modern attractions.

o The educational goals of this project are to give students the skills to find information a variety of ways using the Internet, teach them basic spreadsheet use, teach them basic multimedia presentation skills and teach them desktop publishing while making them more familiar with travel options in the state of Indiana. This project will meet a variety of state standards in math, English, and social studies along with several of the NETS (National Educational Technology Standards for Students).

o Students will need a variety of web sites to complete this activity, along with training on Excel, Powerpoint and Word. This training will come in the form of mini-units given to the students throughout the year prior to beginning this project.
