This article emphasizes the need to integrate technology education in today’s schools. Schools must give students the skills to “communicate, collaborate, analyze, create, innovate, and solve problems” that are needed in today’s post-secondary educational and workplace environment. The State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA), the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and the Partnership for 21st Century Skills teamed together to produce this report emphasizing additional technology education in schools today. In addition, teachers must receive the tools and training to successfully implement technology into their curriculum. Schools must allow students to “apply their knowledge and skills in meaningful ways.” This will make education more valuable to all students and make them more engaged learners. By using technology more and making it more meaningful in education, “, technology supports new, research-based approaches and promising practices in teaching and learning.” This enhances the best-practice method so many schools are now focusing on with-in their curriculum.
